The Haunting of Hill House is loosely based on the 1959 novel by Shirley Jackson. It was directed and created by Mike Flanagan, and because of how it’s written and shown, you need to watch all 10 episodes to get the entire story. This is because the plot jumps from past to present, showing chilling flashbacks from the night the 5 children and 1 parent fled the house and left one parent to be a victim of the house possibly.
In the summer of 1992, the family moved into the Hill House with dreams of renovating and selling to build their own house the mom designed. But unexpected repairs cause delays, and the family begins to experience fighting paranormal activity. Frightened, they fled the house, and one of them never made it out.
Twenty-six years later, they’re back at the house with the surviving parent, and they’re forced to confront how much their time at Hill House affected them.
