5 Unbelievable Animals You Won’t Believe Actually Exist
You know about the fuzzy, cute, cuddly, and fierce animals. You can even name a couple of unique ones, some that look strange, some that eat weird things, or some that just seem too odd to exist in our present-day world. But today, we’re sharing five unbelievable animals you won’t believe exist. And even though the animal kingdom is full of surprises, these five animals will leave you with a jaw-dropping shock you never saw coming.
Ghostshark

Despite their name, ghostsharks aren’t actually sharks. They belong to a group of fish called chimaeras. They have an eerie look to them, being a light blueish grey (almost ghost-like) with large black eyes that have reflective tissue, making them seem to glow. Ghostsharks live in deep waters, making them more challenging for humans to study. They can grow to be longer than six feet and have narrow bodies with large heads.

Ghostsharks eat shellfish, mollusks, and worms that live on the sea floor. The eerie-looking fish has a protruding snout, making it easier to find food along the sea floor. Ghostsharks have incredibly strong teeth that continuously grow instead of falling out and growing new ones. Its body is smooth and lacks thorns or any other exterior texture. Predators of the ghostshark include fish that are larger than them and sharks.
Aye-Aye

What has huge bulging eyes like an owl, sharp teeth like a rat, dexterous fingers like a raccoon, and a large bushy tail like a squirrel? An Aye-Aye! Aye-Aye’s are mammals and omnivores. They are likely the world’s weirdest primates, and they weigh only four pounds. They can live up to twenty years in the wild and are only known to live on the island of Madagascar.

Aye-Aye’s have bat-like ears that are very sensitive, slender fingers, and a unique hand structure that isn’t seen on any other primate. Aye-Aye’s have a very long middle finger, which they use to take the pulp out of fruit to snack on. This strange primate lives only in the rainforest trees, barely coming down to earth. They are nocturnal and spend their days sleeping in cozy little nests in the rainforest trees.
Turritopsis Nutricula

Try saying that word five times fast! If you thought that nothing could live forever, normally we’d say you’re right. But the Turritopsis Nutricula proves that theory to be false. Dubbed the “immortal jellyfish,” this creature’s abilities are insane and unbelievable. The unique organism grows to be about 4.5 mm across, making it smaller than a pinky nail! A bright red stomach can be seen through its transparent bell, and up to 90 white tentacles are hanging around its’ edges.

It looks completely out of this world. But what makes the Turritopsis Nutricula even more incredible is its unique survival skill. When it encounters physical damage or starvation, it can travel backward in its development and transform back into a polyp. When it’s ready to transform into its’ jellyfish form, it just does it again, and upon encountering danger, it goes backward. See the pattern? It’s immortal! It can go from baby to adult to baby to adult.
Sparklemuffin

I bet you have never thought of a spider as cute and cuddly. Well, then you’ve never heard of or seen the Sparklemuffin. (Yes, that’s literally its name.) It’s scientific name is Maratus Jactatus, and it belongs to the species of peacock spiders. These spiders can jump a length of about 50 times their size! They are very, very small, with their’ length being roughly the length of a grain of rice.

The male sparklemuffin spiders have extraordinary colors and vibrant colour patterns. They also do a cute little dance that would make even Britney Spears jealous. The dance is in hopes of attracting a female mate, but if she rejects him, she might eat him! Sparklemuffins’ live only in Australia, making a sighting of them very, very rare.
Red-Lipped Batfish

The red-lipped batfish has an extraordinary, unique feature that I’m sure you can guess. Red lips! Yes, this fish literally looks like it just put on Maybelline’s newest rouge. Its’ unusual lips are combined with a strange Voldemort-ish nose, and pair those with fins at its’ bottom to help the fish “walk” along the sea floor, and you have yourself quite the weird creature. The red-lipped batfish lives in only one place in the world. The Galapagos Islands.

They are not good swimmers (strange for a fish, eh), and they spend most of their time “walking” along the sea floor, which is more like a froggy crawl. They eat small fish and other small invertebrates. And, believe it or not, no one knows why their lips are red! It’s a mystery to even the most intelligent marine scientists! The red-lipped batfist has no known predators and is harmless to humans, but, with them living so close to the sea floor, you would have to go scuba diving to see them.
Final Thoughts

The world is truly a mystifying place with so many odd, unique, and frankly, bizarre creatures. But these five animals are truly mind-blowing. A shark that’s not a shark but actually a fish and has an eerie ghostly color? A primate that grows to be only four pounds and seems to be a combination of several animals with a weirdly long middle finger, perfect for fixing their fruit? What about a transparent jellyfish with a red stomach that can do the impossible—travel back to youth?
Don’t forget about the sparklemuffin! The colourful, teeny-tiny spider does a cutesy little dance to attract a female companion in hopes that the female won’t eat him upon rejection. And finally, the fish that has the perfect red lips all the time—the red-lipped batfish! It’s harmful to humans and has adapted to walking on the sea floor because it’s not a good swimmer. These five bizarre animals are truly unique, miraculous, and strange. It’s hard to believe they even exist!
